Download the latest build
Auto-rebuilt on every commit. Roughly a few hundred KB, zipped.
4 steps, about a minute
Unzip the file
Double-click poof.zipto extract it. You'll get a folder called poof. Leave it somewhere you won't accidentally delete — Chrome will read the extension from there every time it starts.
Open Chrome's extensions page
Paste this into the address bar:
chrome://extensionsTurn on Developer mode
Flip the Developer mode toggle in the top-right corner. New buttons appear on the left — that's what we need.
Click "Load unpacked" and pick the folder
Click Load unpacked, then select the pooffolder you unzipped in step 1. Poof should appear in your extensions list. Pin it to the toolbar and type //in any input to see it work.
Quick fixes
Chrome says "Manifest file is missing or unreadable"
You probably selected the outer folder (the one that contains the zip). Go one level deeper — pick the folder that directly containsmanifest.json.
I don't see "Load unpacked"
Make sure Developer mode is on in the top-right ofchrome://extensions. The Load unpacked button only appears when it's enabled.
Chrome warns about "developer mode" extensions
That warning is normal for unpacked extensions. To install Poof as a regular extension — no developer mode, no warning, auto-updates — grab it from the Chrome Web Store instead.

Or skip all this
Poof is live on the Chrome Web Store — one click, auto-updates, no developer mode. Unless you have a reason to load the unpacked build, install it from there.
